Job Summary
Laboratory Manager responsible for leading the AdventHealth Palm Coast laboratory operations, including budgeting, staff scheduling, quality improvement, regulatory compliance, training and mentoring of staff, and coordination with leadership. The role involves overseeing inventory and labor productivity, ensuring adherence to accreditation standards (DNV, CLIA, OSHA, CAP, AABB), interpreting and addressing complex test results, maintaining laboratory instruments, and guiding performance improvement initiatives and patient-safety efforts. The position requires a Bachelor's degree in a relevant laboratory science, 5+ years of clinical laboratory experience, and 1+ year of leadership experience, with strong organizational, communication, and supervisory abilities; the incumbent will participate in leadership meetings and support a mission-driven healthcare environment.
Required Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree in a chemical, biological, clinical or medical laboratory science or medical technology from an accredited institution (or CLIA equivalency)
- 5+ years of clinical laboratory experience
- 1+ year of leadership/managerial experience
- Ability to read and interpret complex test results; strong problem-solving and decision-making abilities
- Knowledge of regulatory and accreditation standards (e.g., DNV, CLIA, OSHA, CAP, AABB) and quality control/assurance practices
- Ability to educate and train staff in medical laboratory settings
- Strong communication skills in English (verbal and written)
- Ability to operate laboratory information systems and basic computer skills
- Mature, independent professional judgment; ability to lead and supervise staff
