Job Summary
Coordinate daily laboratory activities and provide training, coaching, and guidance to Medical Lab Technicians and Sample Management Technicians. Oversee team workflow and act as a resource for colleagues, while performing individual contributor bench work using automated analyzers, microscopes, and diagnostic tools to analyze blood, urine, fecal, and biopsy samples. Set up and run lab tests, read results, and release them according to Standard Operating Procedures to diagnose animal illnesses and injuries. Specialize in specimen processing and resolve challenges regarding diagnostic analyzers and turnaround times. Work Tuesday through Saturday from midnight to 8:30 am with an every-other Sunday rotation.
Required Qualifications
- High School diploma or equivalent combination of education and experience
- Ability to meet the physical requirements that go with working in a lab, i.e. standing and sitting for extended periods of time, phone & computer use, extended reach, lifting up to 50lb, and specific vision ability (close, color, depth perception, and ability to adjust focus)
- Reliable and dependable attendance
- Applicants must be authorized to work for ANY employer in the U.S.
- This Laboratory Lead position will be based out of our Glen Burie, MD location
- Schedule: You will be working 40 hours / week. The scheduled shift will be Tuesday through Saturday, Midnight - 8:30am
- There is an every-other Sunday rotation, with Sunday hours 10pm -6:30am
- The shifts and hours may vary slightly depending on business needs
Desired Qualifications
- a 2-, 3- or 4-year degree in a science-related field is preferred
- Ideally 3-5+ years experience working in a laboratory, although training can be provided
- Experience setting up, running, reading lab tests, and operating laboratory equipment (microscopes and / or clinical diagnostic analyzers) preferred
- Veterinary Technician (RVT, LVT, CVT) or Medical Laboratory Technician (MLT or MT) experience preferred
- Attention to detail, organized with the ability to multi-task in a fast-paced environment
- Be a team-oriented worker
