Job Summary
Part-time Laboratory Assistant responsible for routine receipting and processing of specimens, operation/maintenance of analysers, pre- and post-analytical specimen handling, urgent specimen prioritisation, filing/storage, and data entry. Will assist Scientists, stay updated on processing requirements for different tests, respond to results and queries, and help identify and resolve pre-analytic issues. Requires specimen processing and data entry experience, strong customer service and communication skills, the ability to thrive in a busy lab environment, and teamwork. Shifts run from 05:30–21:30 on weekdays and 06:00–19:00 on weekends/public holidays, with possible rotation through other metro labs as needed.
Required Qualifications
- Specimen processing and data entry experience
- Certificate III in Laboratory Techniques or Pathology Collection desirable
- Excellent customer service and communication skills
- Ability to work in a busy environment
- Ability to work with minimal supervision and as part of a team
- Understanding of procedures and policies
