Job Summary
Laboratory Assistant – LHSC contracted (12 months) at Keremeos LHSC. Responsible for processing blood samples and other specimens, entering requisitions and results, and providing compassionate patient service. Roles include phlebotomy, collecting samples, performing ECGs, handling specimens per SOPs, maintaining confidentiality, and supporting quality metrics. Requires CSMLS/BCSLS certification and/or MLA program, or an equivalent qualification, with potential consideration for related degrees; on-site, part-time schedule (Mon/Tue/Thu 7:30–3:30) in a 12-month contract; paid hourly at $27.00–$30.75. Proficiency in English and ability to attend shifts across LHSC locations; able to lift up to 30 pounds; ability to work in a medical laboratory environment.
Required Qualifications
- CSMLS or BCSLS certification and/or MLA program accredited by BCSLS or equivalent awarding body (Canadian)
- Bachelor degree in a related scientific discipline or nursing, or international MLA or MLT qualification may also be considered
- 1 year patient-facing phlebotomy experience may also be considered
- Strong data entry and English communication skills
