Job Summary
Route, handle, and process medical specimens in accordance with laboratory protocols while loading patient samples and quality controls onto automated instruments. Batch and prepare samples prior to instrument loading or handoff to technical staff. Assist in notifying clients of critical values per policy, ensuring appropriate documentation, and archive specimens in the Laboratory Information System while monitoring backlogs every 30 minutes to escalate delayed priority samples. Adhere to all safety guidelines and quality assurance standards, supporting staff with miscellaneous tasks as needed. This role works under the supervision of a Licensed Clinical Laboratory Scientist in Irving, TX, with a preference for candidates having two years of clinical laboratory experience.
Required Qualifications
- High school diploma or GED
- Associate of Science or Bachelor of Science degree from an accredited college or university
- Minimum of two (2) years' experience in a clinical laboratory setting
- Familiarity with basic laboratory procedures
- Proficient with laboratory computer systems, analyzers, and communication tools
- Ability to stand or sit for extended periods of time
- Ability to lift up to 25 pounds and perform repetitive movements
- Visual acuity and hand-eye coordination sufficient to operate laboratory instruments and process specimens
- Ability to work in a fast-paced, high-volume environment while maintaining accuracy
- Strong attention to detail and the ability to follow written and verbal instructions
- Ability to manage stress and remain professional when dealing with urgent or sensitive matters
- Two Schedules: 6PM-2:30AM Monday-Friday, and 10AM-6:30PM Monday-Friday
- Location will be in our Laboratory in Irving, TX
