Job Summary
Laboratory Assistant II – Sendout Testing needed to provide general laboratory services including specimen collection, pre-analytic processing, waived and identified moderate complexity testing, and related clerical tasks. Responsibilities include potentially handling patient/specimen registration and delivering specimens; requires HS/ GED and completion of competency assessments, with preferred phlebotomy training and computer/telephone skills. Shift is Full-Time Days (9:30 am–6 pm, Mon–Fri with rotating Sundays) in Indiana University Health’s lab services operating 24/7, offering benefits such as 401(k) match, tuition reimbursement, and wellness programs.
Required Qualifications
- HS grad or GED Equivalent
- Completion of an initial and six (6) month competency for identified testing
- Annual competency assessment for identified testing
- Phlebotomy training program with lab/biology coursework preferred
- Experience in waived or moderate complexity preferred
- Working knowledge of computers
- Telephone skills
- Ability to perform repetitive tasks for prolonged periods
