Job Summary
Support technical staff in delivering medical laboratory information for disease diagnosis, treatment, and prevention. Maintain safe and clean working environments by complying with procedures, labeling biohazard waste, and managing laboratory supply inventory. Execute specimen collection via venipuncture, capillary, and heel-stick; process gynecological and non-gynecologic samples for microscopic evaluation, including instrument processing, staining, and cover-slipping. Operate and maintain laboratory equipment, performing preventative maintenance and troubleshooting. Register patients in the Hospital Information System, order tests, and respond to result requests. Participate in quality control programs, document daily QC, and mentor new staff. Work in an acute care setting with potential exposure to blood-borne pathogens.
Required Qualifications
- High School graduate or equivalent
- Six months experience working in an acute care facility in an equivalent role
