Laboratory Assistant I

Job Summary
Laboratory Assistant I provides general laboratory services including specimen collection, order entry, blood component preparation, pre-analytic processing of specimens, and related clerical tasks. May be responsible for patient and specimen registration and delivery of specimens. Shift is full-time nights at North Hospital (Carmel, IN). Requires HS grad or GED; phlebotomy training/courses in biology or chemistry preferred. May require Indiana driver’s license and driving history; basic computer and telephone skills; strong interpersonal and teamwork abilities. Responsibilities may include committee or project participation contributing to department goals.
Required Qualifications
- HS grad or GED Equivalent
- Completion of phlebotomy training program (preferred)
- Experience in laboratory or coursework in biological, chemical or related science (preferred)
- May require a valid Indiana operator's license and good driving history (preferred)
- May require understanding of traffic laws in Indiana
- Computer proficiency
- Telephone skills
- Strong interpersonal skills and ability to work as a team member
- Ability to perform repetitive tasks for prolonged periods
