Laboratory Assistant I

Perform cytopreparatory staining and accessions surgical cases with knowledge of anatomy. May receive and set up primary specimen cultures, inoculating petri dishes for bacterial growth. Clean and disinfect laboratory equipment and spaces, maintain inventory control and supply stocking. Participate in laboratory and hospital performance improvement activities, evaluate new equipment and procedures. Provide resolution to customer service issues within guidelines and support education to clinical staff. Requires technical skills in laboratory procedures, effective English communication with patients and staff, data literacy, and ability to handle infectious specimens safely. Must be capable of learning computer applications and maintaining confidentiality; phlebotomy training or MLA/ASCP-credentialed background preferred.
