Laboratory Assistant - Histology

Job Summary
Laboratory Assistant - Histology performing manual and automated diagnostic testing from specimen reception through to results for pathological diagnosis, including specimen dissection; assisting with stock control and records; maintaining equipment; ensuring compliance with policies, QA processes and safety; contributing to quality assurance activities and continuous improvement; liaising with referring practitioners and staff; and training team members. Requires Bachelor of Science or equivalent in Medical Laboratory Science, demonstrated discipline-specific experience, QC/QAP knowledge, independence, strong quality focus, and excellent time management, interpersonal, and organisational skills; vaccination history may be required and adherence to organizational policies. This role is based at QML Pathology (Murarrie) in Queensland, Australia, and is offered as a full-time permanent position.
Required Qualifications
- Bachelor of Science, Bachelor of Applied Science (Medical Laboratory Science) or equivalent
- Demonstrated experience, knowledge, expertise and skills within the respective discipline
- Sound knowledge of QC, QAP and troubleshooting
- Demonstrated ability to identify, develop and implement quality and service improvement activities in accordance with NATA/ISO accreditation/certification
- Ability to perform duties with a high degree of independence and with infrequent supervision
- An outstanding commitment to quality and excellence
- A willingness to adhere to departmental and organisational policies and procedures
- Strong time management, interpersonal, communication and organisational skills
- The ability to manage and thrive in a busy environment

- This role may require additional vaccination history and evidence for department specific vaccine preventative diseases
