Job Summary
Laboratory Assistant role supporting medical laboratory operations in an acute-care setting. Responsibilities include processing and preparing specimens (venipuncture, capillary, heel-stick) for testing, managing lab waste per regulatory guidelines, maintaining inventory and supply ordering, operating and maintaining lab equipment, performing quality controls, and participating in training/mentoring of new staff. Also registers patients in the Hospital Information System, handles specimen processing for referral, and may travel to various locations. Emphasis on safety, process improvement, timely reporting of results, and collaboration across departments.
Required Qualifications
- High School graduate or equivalent
- Six months experience working in an acute care facility in an equivalent role.
