Job Summary
Accession cytology specimens in the LIS and perform procedures for preparing specimens for microscopic examination, including processing and staining. Maintain laboratory equipment and ensure supplies are adequately stocked. Assist with slide filing and tissue processors in the Histology section as needed. Work day or evening shifts from 5:00pm to 9:30pm in the Cytology section at Southcoast Health's Mashpee facility. This role supports the Pathology Laboratory within a not-for-profit health system committed to community-focused care.
Required Qualifications
- Successful completion of High School or equivalency
- Must be fully vaccinated against seasonal Influenza and the COVID 19 virus or to be exempt from the requirement for medical or personal reasons by signing a statement certifying you are choosing to be exempt from vaccination once hired
Desired Qualifications
- Certification in Phlebotomy or Medical Assistant
- Knowledge of medical terminology
- Up to and including one year experience
- Combination of education and experience as a microbiology specimen processor/lab assistant equivalent for at least 6 months
