Job Summary
Laboratory and Diagnostic Officer supports STRIDES Indonesia by strengthening veterinary laboratory systems and zoonotic disease detection across STRIDES priority provinces (Banten, West Java, Central Java). Provides hands-on technical implementation support for laboratory strengthening activities (molecular diagnostics, biosafety and biosecurity, quality systems, specimen referral, and laboratory data systems such as IVLab and iSIKHNAS). Develops technical briefs, reports, SOPs, guidance materials, and implementation updates; monitors progress and coordinates with government counterparts, laboratories, and stakeholders. Collaborates with surveillance, data, and outbreak response teams to align with One Health priorities and supports field-based activities in STRIDES priority provinces. Fluency in English and Bahasa Indonesia is mandatory for preparation of technical documents and reports.
Required Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in Veterinary Medicine, Veterinary Laboratory Science, Microbiology, Laboratory Science, or related field; veterinary background strongly preferred
- Minimum 3 years of relevant experience in veterinary laboratory diagnostics or laboratory systems strengthening
- Knowledge of zoonotic diseases, molecular diagnostics (e.g., PCR), biosafety and biosecurity, quality management systems (QMS), QA/QC, and laboratory documentation
- Experience supporting laboratory assessments, technical trainings, specimen referral systems, or laboratory data systems such as IVLab and iSIKHNAS
- Experience working with Ministry of Agriculture counterparts, donor-funded projects, or USG-funded programs preferred
- Strong analytical, organizational, communication, and problem-solving skills
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite
