Job Summary
Conduct prompt, thorough, and impartial investigations into employee complaints, including allegations of discrimination, harassment, retaliation, and policy violations. Serve as the primary point of contact for employee relations matters, complaints, workplace conflicts, performance concerns, and disciplinary actions. Prepare investigation summaries, documentation, and recommended outcomes in compliance with legal and organizational standards. Partner with management to implement corrective actions, monitor followthrough, and guide leaders on progressive discipline and performance management processes. Ensure organizational compliance with NYC, NYS, and federal labor and employment laws, including the NYC Human Rights Law, NYS Labor Law, and Paid Safe and Sick Leave Law. Collaborate with HR leadership and outside counsel on complex issues, conduct quarterly compliance audits, and design training on harassment prevention and documentation standards. Facilitate mediation, manage voluntary separation processes, and support change management initiatives to mitigate legal risk. Maintain confidential records and establish trust through consistent application of policies across departments.
Required Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree in Human Resources, Labor Relations or Industrial Relations, Business Administration, Public Administration or related field
- 3-5 years of progressive labor/employee relations experience
- Collective Bargaining Agreement interpretation and administration
- Grievance handling and step meetings
- Disciplinary review and just cause analysis
- Participation in arbitration preparation or hearings
- Basic computer skills including Microsoft Office
- Excellent verbal and written communication
- Ability to work in a high-volume team environment
- Detailed oriented
- Strong working knowledge of Federal and state labor laws (e.g. NLRA, FLSA, ADA, Title VII)
