Job Summary
Labor & Employment Associate Attorney needed in Rochester, NY to handle a broad range of labor and employment matters including discrimination/harassment/retaliation litigation, wage and hour issues, traditional labor/union matters, and advisory work. Responsibilities include conducting legal research and analysis, drafting and updating HR-related documentation (handbooks, policies, employment agreements), assisting with administrative investigations, supporting all phases of employment litigation (motions, discovery, depositions, trial preparation), and collaborating with senior attorneys on mediations, arbitrations, hearings, and trials. The role emphasizes building strong client relationships, meeting billable-hour targets, and delivering practical, trusted counsel across diverse employment matters. Requires a JD from an ABA-accredited law school, active New York State Bar membership, 1+ years in labor/employment or related litigation, and strong writing, research, and communication skills. The position is full-time and based in Rochester, NY (in-person).
Required Qualifications
- Juris Doctor (J.D.) from an ABA-accredited law school
- active membership in good standing with the New York State Bar
- 1+ years of experience in labor and employment law, employment litigation, or a related litigation practice area
- strong legal research, analytical, and writing skills
- ability to interact confidently with clients, opposing counsel, and agencies
- excellent verbal and written communication skills
- ability to manage multiple priorities and meet deadlines
- collaborative and team-oriented approach with the ability to work independently
