Job Summary
Collect laboratory specimens following established guidelines and procedures for handling, processing, and reporting patient test results. Maintain records demonstrating proficiency testing samples are tested identically to patient specimens, while documenting all quality control activities, instrument calibrations, and maintenance. Identify potential issues affecting test performance or reporting, correct them, or notify the Director of Laboratory Services immediately. Ensure accurate data entry into the Electronic Health Record and timely transmission of results to final report destinations. Manage supply inventory viability through proper dating and rotation, and adhere to safety protocols, OSHA regulations, and medical waste disposal standards. Maintain confidentiality in accordance with HIPAA regulations and corporate compliance policies. Requires an associate's degree in a relevant science, phlebotomy certification or equivalent experience, and effective communication skills.
Required Qualifications
- Associate's degree or equivalent in a chemical, physical, or biological science from an accredited institution
- Completion of a phlebotomy certification program, or have the experience and ability to perform Phlebotomy
- Demonstrates effective written and verbal skills
- Must be able to lift up to 15 pounds at times
