Lab Technologist - Microbiology

Job Summary
Accurately perform high, moderate, or waived laboratory testing using advanced instrumentation and equipment per Standard Operating Procedures. Recognize and correct instrument malfunctions, record troubleshooting activities, and confirm, verify, and report test results independently while monitoring for critical values. Correlate and interpret data generated from testing to assist physicians in result interpretation. Conduct quality control and performance improvement activities, prepare and collect specimens for analysis, and provide clinical orientation for new employees. Participate in Continuous System Improvement programs, perform instrument and assay validations, and sign off on technical competencies. Work Tuesday to Saturday from 11:00 p.m. to 7:30 a.m. with holiday rotation.
Required Qualifications
- Must meet CLIA 88 personnel requirements for high complexity testing
- Bachelor's degree required in medical technology or related science field from an accredited institution
- must meet CLIA grandfathered medical technologist regulations
- Ability to read, analyze, and interpret common scientific and technical journals, financial reports, and legal documents
- Ability to respond to common inquiries or complaints from customers, regulatory agencies, or members of the business community
- Ability to write speeches and articles for publication that conform to prescribed style and format
- Ability to work with mathematical concepts such as probability and statistical inference, and fundamentals of plane and solid geometry and trigonometry
- Ability to apply concepts such as fractions, percentages, ratios, and proportions to practical situations
- Ability to define problems, collect data, establish facts, and draw valid conclusions
- Ability to interpret an extensive variety of technical instructions in mathematical or diagram form and deal with several abstract and concrete variables
