Job Summary
Lab Technologist II in NGS lab on a night-shift schedule is responsible for conducting and supporting high-complexity laboratory testing, ensuring compliance and quality through documentation, proficiency testing, and continuous improvement. Responsibilities include operating high-complexity testing, adhering to lab policies, participating in quality assurance plans, training and mentoring within the group, maintaining organized lab space, supporting proficiency testing, and documenting all activities and corrective actions. The role requires familiarity with molecular biology techniques (qPCR, DNA extraction, DNA sequencing), ability to adapt to a fast-paced environment, strong communication, and computer proficiency.
Required Qualifications
- Doctoral, bachelor’s, or master’s degree in medical technology or a chemical, physical, biological, or clinical laboratory science
- 6 months of clinical lab experience or equivalent
- California: CLS trainee license or a CLS or CGMBS license issued by California
- Familiarity with qPCR, DNA extraction, DNA sequencing; molecular biology calculations (dilutions, DNA and protein concentration measurements); proficiency with molecular biology techniques
- Ability to adapt to fast-paced and evolving environment
- Some schedule flexibility- occasional overtime hours may be required
- Basic proficiency with computers (Excel, other Office tools) and statistics
- Strong verbal and written communication skills
- Extensive documentation skills and attention to detail; ability to develop and follow written procedures; organize information; ensure data is recorded correctly
