Lab Technician Student – Geotechnical

Job Summary

Manage samples and perform onsite lab tests including Proctor, sieve analysis, and moisture content to support construction quality control of mine earth structures. Adhere to the Lab Control Manual, Quality Management System, and ASTM standards while ensuring safety in a sensitive position. This role requires carrying 20 kg over rough terrain and is based indoors at the Albian operations lab in Fort McMurray. Students enrolled in Engineering Technologist, Engineering, or Geology programs from recognized schools are eligible for this 4, 8, or 12-month term starting May 2027.

Required Qualifications

  • Currently enrolled or recently graduated in an Engineering Technologist program, Engineering or Geology program in a field related to Mining (Civil, Geological, Geology) from a recognized school
  • Must be able to carry 20 kg for 100m over rough terrain continuously
  • All candidates applying to Canadian Natural must have legal authorization to work in Canada with no restrictions
