Job Summary
Prepare samples for analysis according to SGS analytical SOPs using basic instrumentation specific to the department. Perform routine operation, maintenance, and calibration of equipment, and may assist with validation and MDL studies. Input and maintain technical information to support laboratory functions, keeping a Laboratory Notebook where applicable. Adhere to internal standards, policies, and procedures while performing other duties as required. This full-time hourly position involves 40 hours per week with potential overtime compensation at 1.5x the hourly rate. Candidates must be eligible to work in the United States, located in Miami-Dade or Broward counties, and comfortable working any day of the week including weekends. The role requires a Bachelor's degree in a science field, one year of hands-on laboratory experience, and the ability to lift up to 40 pounds.
Required Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree in science field (Chemistry, Biology, Environmental Science, Botany etc.)
- Candidate must be eligible to work in the United States
- Local Candidates only (Miami-Dade & Broward)
- Must be comfortable working any day of the week including weekends
- Be an overall team player
- Demonstrated ability to multi-task and prioritize work to maximize efficiency and meet established deadlines
- Ability to show accountability
- Experience with chemicals, solvents, scales, microscope work, familiarity with plant anatomy, marine organisms etc.
- Physical requirements such as being able to stand on your feet for long periods of the day, climbing up and down stairs and regularly lifting as much as 40 pounds
Desired Qualifications
- A minimum of one year of hands-on laboratory work including college/university experience
- Strong attention to detail
- Have excellent oral/written communication skills along with computer software skills with the ability to work independently or in a team
- Excellent interpersonal skills and comfortable interfacing with all staff members at all levels of the company
- Candidates with analytical chemistry experience
