Job Summary
Conduct daily laboratory operations at the Galveston Bay Refinery by adhering to safety SOPs, receiving and preparing samples for testing, and performing routine QC checks on instrumentation. Log and enter sample results accurately into LIMS, communicate pending analyses and operational issues to supervisors, and dispose of samples per site procedures. Perform sample pickups using the company vehicle and maintain clean, orderly work areas to ensure safety and efficiency. Complete required Instructor Lead and Computer Based Training modules by due dates and support continuous improvement by training fellow technicians on instruments and methods. Work a rotating 12-hour shift including nights, weekends, and holidays.
Required Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree in Chemistry or science equivalent with a minimum of 4 college level courses in Chemistry and 2 college level Chemistry labs required
- One year or more of experience in QC/production laboratory in petroleum refining, petrochemical industry laboratory, or analytical laboratory
- Familiarity and knowledge of the testing methods and chemical substances used in a refining lab
- Must be able to work a rotating 12-hour shift, which includes nights, weekends, holidays, and vacation coverage for peers
- Must be able to complete Health Questionnaire and pass drug testing and background check
- A valid drivers license is required
- Ability to physically perform all duties required which may involve (among others): bending, stooping, kneeling, climbing ladders, lifting and carrying loads up to 50 lbs
