Job Summary

Perform hands-on DNA library preparation, including accessioning, quality control, and pooling of incoming samples. Operate and maintain Oxford Nanopore sequencing instruments, troubleshooting issues and implementing preventative maintenance schedules. Review sequencing output, conduct quality control checks, and collaborate with bioinformaticians on data interpretation. Ensure compliance with safety protocols and maintain accurate documentation while coordinating logistics for shipping consumables to customers. Work a full-time in-person shift from 4:00 a.m. to 12:30 p.m., Tuesday through Saturday.

Required Qualifications

  • Fluent in English
  • Deep technical expertise in Oxford Nanopore Technology sequencing
  • Library preparation automation
  • Quality control
  • Minimum of 2+ years of hands-on experience with DNA extraction
  • Minimum of 2+ years of hands-on experience with purification
  • Minimum of 2+ years of hands-on experience with sequencing techniques
  • Bachelor's or Master's degree in Molecular Biology
  • Bachelor's or Master's degree in Biochemistry
  • Bachelor's or Master's degree in Genetics
  • Bachelor's or Master's degree in a related field
  • Training as BTA
  • Proven track record of several years of relevant experience
  • Must be able to sit and stand for long periods of time
  • Must be able to frequently lift, carry, push, pull or otherwise move objects and inventory in the lab
  • Requires substantial movements of the wrists, hands, and/or fingers
  • Requires close visual acuity to perform activities such as: pipetting
  • Requires close visual acuity to perform activities such as: viewing a computer terminal
  • Requires close visual acuity to perform activities such as: preparing and analyzing data and figures
  • Interviews will be in English
