Lab Technician

Job Summary
Conduct physical and chemical testing on refinery process streams, including intermediate and finished fuels, while performing accurate and repeatable analysis of hydrocarbon and aqueous samples. Provide data entry of lab results using LIMS proficiency for sample login, data entry, and SQC charting, ensuring certification of finished fuel per ASTM specifications. Prepare chemical solutions, operate sensitive instrumentation, and participate in proficiency testing programs while strictly following safety standards and company policies. Work rotating shifts with flexibility in schedules, including nights and weekends, in an office-based environment with up to 10% travel.
Required Qualifications
- High School Diploma
- Bachelor's Degree in Chemistry
- Bachelor's Degree in Physical or Biological Sciences
- equivalent combination of education and experience working in an industrial laboratory
- Proficiency with spreadsheet and word-processing software applications
- Good mechanical ability
- understanding of operational principles of assigned areas laboratory testing instruments
- Ability to effectively communicate with others, both written and verbal communication
- Ability to perform basic mathematical calculations

- Possessing critical thinking and communication skills
- Follow-through on commitments made to others
- LIMS proficiency in sample login, data entry and SQC charting
- Read and understand all analysis procedures and safety standards in English, including American Society for Testing and Materials methods of analysis and other analytical standards and procedures used in the laboratory
- Possess competency in lab techniques showing consistent and proper use of instrumentation, equipment and glassware
- Work rotating shifts with flexibility in shift schedules

Desired Qualifications
- Bachelors Degree in Chemistry preferred
