Job Summary
Conduct microbiological, chemical, physical, and sensory analyses of dairy products while performing daily evaluations of finished goods. Hold, release, or reject finished goods based on analytical results and verify product compliance with specifications, promptly reporting any deviations. Perform in-plant checks including weights, temperatures, ingredient usage, pH levels, and metal detection, alongside environmental testing to ensure sanitary conditions. Calibrate and perform scheduled preventative maintenance on laboratory equipment while maintaining accurate documentation of all tests and procedures. Ensure a clean, safe laboratory environment. Requires a high school diploma or GED, with a Bachelor's degree in Food Science preferred, plus previous laboratory and high-volume manufacturing experience. Must work overtime, weekends, and holidays in a cold, damp environment.
Required Qualifications
- High School diploma or GED equivalent
- Previous experience in a laboratory environment
- Ability to read, write, and communicate effectively in English
- Capability to perform basic mathematical calculations
- Ability to accurately record data
- Ability and willingness to work overtime, weekends, holidays, and various shifts as required
- Must be able to frequently stand, walk, kneel, reach, climb, pull, and bend
- Must be able to routinely lift and/or move up to 50 pounds
- Must be able to occasionally lift and/or move 75 pounds
- Must be able to work for extended periods in a cold, damp environment
Desired Qualifications
- Bachelor's Degree in Food Science or related field
- Previous experience in a high-volume manufacturing environment
