Job Summary
Lab Technician Assistant in a hospital laboratory setting performs daily workflow management for the Lab Support section under minimal supervision. Responsibilities include training and competency development for LTAs and phlebotomy students, monitoring phlebotomy status reports to ensure timely services, and potentially performing duties of LTA, Phlebotomist, or CLA as needed for patient care. Coordinates and assigns work, supports coverage planning, and demonstrates advanced specimen collection skills including troubleshooting LIS devices. Maintains accurate records, follows safety policies, and adheres to departmental procedures. Requires strong collaboration with other departments, knowledge of safety and infection control, and ability to work evenings as part of a 24-hour shift schedule. Certification/education preferences include Phlebotomy Certification and ASCP eligibility within a year.
Required Qualifications
- High School Diploma or Equivalent
- Phlebotomy experience and lab experience
