Job Summary
Perform analytical testing of in-process and special samples for finished product disposition at Chicago Heights or Waterway plants. Operate and maintain laboratory equipment including balances, spectrophotometers, and ion chromatographs while conducting daily calibration and reference checks. Record data in logbooks, LIMS, and Microsoft Access to create and distribute Certificates of Analysis for bulk shipments. Assist production personnel, maintain work areas, and train employees as assigned. Requires a Bachelor's degree in a scientific discipline, 1-3 years of quality control lab experience, and proficiency in analytical chemistry principles and standard operating procedures. Works the 1st shift (7:00 am - 3:00 pm) with wages starting at $28.83/hour.
Required Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree in chemistry, biochemistry, biology, or another scientific discipline
- 1-3 years of quality control lab experience
- Demonstrate knowledge of analytical chemistry principles, laboratory techniques, and good laboratory practices (GLP/GMP)
- Ability to read, understand, and accurately perform analytical test methods, standard operating procedures (SOPs), and work instructions
- Proficient in mathematical concepts and analytical calculations
- Strong computer skills with experience using Microsoft Office applications, Laboratory Information Management Systems (LIMS), databases, and statistical software
- Ability to operate, calibrate, troubleshoot, and maintain laboratory instrumentation
- Frequent Standing
- Seldom lifting up to 50 lbs., squatting, bending, and operating mobile equipment (Cushman)
- Rarely climbing, and working in temperature changes
- Never operates heavy equipment
