Job Summary
Laboratory Technician responsible for setting up, operating, cleaning, and troubleshooting production equipment and performing microbiological testing on raw milk, finished dairy products, and processing equipment (e.g., Salmonella, E. coli, Listeria; plate counts; pathogen screening; shelf-life studies) to meet safety standards and regulatory requirements. Responsibilities include conducting chemical and physical analyses (fat content, protein, moisture, pH, acidity) using spectrophotometers, titrators, and analytical balances; sampling across production stages with proper chain-of-custody procedures; operating and maintaining equipment (incubators, autoclaves, microscopes, chromatography systems); documenting results in LIMS and preparing detailed reports for QA, regulatory agencies, and management; investigating product quality issues and coordinating corrective actions with production teams while adhering to SOPs and Good Laboratory Practices; working at the East Syracuse, NY site on back-half night shifts.
Required Qualifications
- Minimum of GED or High School Diploma is required
- Associates degree in dairy/food sciences or equivalent highly preferred
- 1-2 years’ experience in similar food industry lab setting highly preferred
