Collect venous, capillary, and blood culture specimens from adult and pediatric patients while correctly identifying patients using two identifiers. Order laboratory tests in the information system, process and file requisitions, and receive accessioned specimens. Perform legal drug testing and breath alcohol collection, including courier pickups for outreach specimens. Answer telephone inquiries regarding test results and specimen requirements, maintaining patient confidentiality. Train new employees and phlebotomy students as needed. Adhere to hospital policies, wear protective equipment, and complete mandatory in-services and competency evaluations.
