Job Summary

Conduct grain quality testing via in-line processing, chemical analysis, and DNA assays including extractions, PCR, and genotyping. Maintain equipment calibration and perform periodic maintenance on mechanical instruments and liquid handlers. Log results in the LIMS, manage multi-interface documents, and track sample movement within the pipeline. Identify opportunities to improve efficiency, accuracy, and consistency across lab workflows by suggesting, testing, and validating process enhancements. Perform repetitive benchwork while adhering to strict SOPs and safety protocols. This onsite role requires flexibility during peak periods, including potential overtime or weekend support.

Required Qualifications

  • B.S. in Biological or Chemical Sciences
  • High School diploma and 3+ years of laboratory experience
  • Experience and knowledge in safe laboratory practices
  • Use of PPE
  • Knowledge of SDSs
  • Handling and disposal of laboratory waste
  • Ability to carry out testing Independently
  • Strong computer skills
  • Knowledge of Microsoft
  • Strong organizational and time management skills
  • Ability to prioritize and follow-up on work assignments
  • Maintaining accurate records
  • Ability to effectively communicate and coordinate with interdepartmental personnel and leaders
  • Ability to explain, demonstrate, and provide hands-on training to junior lab staff on proper execution of SOP
  • Ability to draw sound conclusions based on a mixture of analysis and experience
  • Initiative to take unassigned tasks that are relevant to program success
  • Open and willing to share information
  • Sense of ownership and responsibility for the success of team goals
