Job Summary
Temporary, part-time Lab Patient Technician responsible for the specimen collection process from greeting patients through preparation of specimens for transportation, performing phlebotomies, connecting/disconnecting holter monitors, performing ECG tracings, handling special test collections (drug screens, paternity tests, clinical trials), completing related documentation, maintaining client relationships, and data entry of demographics and test information; requires graduation from a Laboratory Assistant program (preferred) with phlebotomy/ECG assets and strong communication and confidentiality skills.
Required Qualifications
- Graduate of an approved Laboratory Assistant program or equivalent is preferred
- Phlebotomy experience is an asset
- ECG training or experience is an asset
- Excellent communication skills
- Good computer skills with a minimum typing speed of 40 wpm
- Strong customer/patient service with ability to relate to patients in stressful situations
- Ability to maintain patient privacy and confidentiality
