Job Summary
Greet patients, explain specimen collection protocols, and request necessary information before performing phlebotomies, ECG tracings, and special test collections like drug screens or paternity tests. Connect and disconnect holter monitors, maintain client relationships, and complete data entry for patient demographics and requisition details. Prepare all specimens for transportation and testing while ensuring strict adherence to patient privacy and confidentiality standards. This temporary full-time role involves a 37.5-hour week with various shifts at the Carling location on a rotation basis, with a one-year contract start date ASAP. Required Qualifications
- Graduate of an approved Laboratory Assistant program or equivalent
- Phlebotomy experience
- ECG training or experience
- Excellent communication skills
- Good computer skills with a minimum typing speed of 40 wpm
- Strong customer/patient service with the ability to relate to patients and clients even in stressful situations
- Strong empathy, flexibility, adaptability to change, and problem solving skills
- Ability to maintain the strictest standards of patient privacy and confidentiality
- Vaccinations and/or immunization screening
Desired Qualifications
- Phlebotomy experience is an asset
- ECG training or experience is an asset
