Job Summary
Greet patients, collect specimens, and perform phlebotomies, ECG tracings, and special test collections including drug screens and paternity tests. Prepare samples for transportation, complete data entry for demographics and requisitions, and maintain client relationships through inquiries and follow-ups. Ensure patients follow test protocols before collection while upholding strict privacy standards. This part-time float role covers four Cambridge and one Guelph location with rotational Saturday shifts, starting September 14, 2026.
Required Qualifications
- Reliable transportation
- Graduate of an approved Laboratory Assistant program or equivalent
- Phlebotomy experience
- ECG training or experience
- Excellent communication skills
- Good computer skills with a minimum typing speed of 40 wpm
- Strong customer/patient service with the ability to relate to patients and clients even in stressful situations
- Strong empathy, flexibility, adaptability to change, and problem solving skills
- Ability to maintain the strictest standards of patient privacy and confidentiality
- Vaccinations and/or immunization screening
- Availability for rotational Saturday shifts
- Availability for shifts beginning as early as 6:45 a.m. and ending as late as 6:00 p.m.
