Job Summary
Manage network, audio, video, and fiber optic cabling across lab and data center environments while reconfiguring devices based on engineering requests. Install, replace, and decommission lab equipment including switches, servers, and AV networking gear, and troubleshoot optical transceivers to verify link status. Maintain an accurate inventory database of all devices, cabling, and port assignments, and develop Python and Bash scripts to streamline operations and support remote access. Contribute to Jenkins CI infrastructure maintenance by updating packages, maintaining build scripts, and triaging build failures. This fully on-site role supports the development of Evertz IP switch fabric and SDI router products, requiring hands-on lab experience and strong organizational skills.
Required Qualifications
- Diploma or degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, Networking, Electrical/Computer Engineering, or a related field
- 1–2 years of experience with Python and Bash scripting
- Basic understanding of networking concepts (Ethernet, IP addressing, VLANs, cable types) and the ability to work with structured cabling, including copper and fiber optic
- Comfortable working in a hands-on lab setting, including racking/unracking equipment, managing cables, and troubleshooting physical connectivity
- Strong organizational skills and attention to detail for maintaining accurate inventory and documentation
- Ability to work independently and prioritize tasks based on engineering team needs
- A willingness to learn new technologies and take ownership of improving existing designs, processes, and tools for the betterment of the product and the team
- This is a fully on-site position (5 days per week)
- Location: Markham, Ontario
- Hours: Monday to Friday, 40 hours per week
Desired Qualifications
- Familiarity with audio/video cabling, connectors, and optical transceivers (SFP/QSFP) used in broadcast or AV environments
- Experience with Jenkins or similar CI/CD tools
- Exposure to broadcast networking, SDI, and SMPTE ST 2110 environments
- Basic awareness of PTP (Precision Time Protocol) and its role in broadcast timing and synchronization
- Experience with network device configuration or management tools
- Familiarity with version control systems (Git, Subversion)
- CompTIA Network+, CompTIA Linux+, or similar industry certifications
