Job Summary
Lab Clerk position in UnitedHealth Group’s Seattle-area laboratory. The role is responsible for processing specimens (blood, urine, and other samples), preparing and packaging for in-house testing and reference labs, and utilizing EHR and LIS systems for data entry and test ordering. The Specialist handles phone inquiries about test requirements and results, maintains documentation, ensures specimen integrity, and supports quality improvement and compliance with HIPAA, OSHA, CLIA, and CAP standards. Requires high school diploma or GED (or higher), 1+ year computer proficiency, and 6+ months of clinical laboratory specimen processing experience. Preferred: current or obtainable BLS certification; familiarity with LIS and regulatory requirements; strong organizational, communication, and teamwork skills; ability to adapt to a fast-paced lab environment.
Required Qualifications
- High School Diploma/GED (or higher)
- 1+ years of computer proficiency experience
- 6+ months of experience in a clinical pathology laboratory including specimen processing
