Job Summary
Lab Automation & Instrumentation Specialist responsible for designing, building, integrating, and troubleshooting automation and electronics packages for laboratory and pilot equipment; developing PLC- and HMI-based control solutions across Siemens, Rockwell, Beckhoff, ABB, and Schneider platforms; transforming manual workflows into scalable, instrumented systems; enhancing data logging, dashboards, and remote monitoring to improve experimental traceability and process understanding; collaborating with product development, operations, and external partners to advance automation from batch to more continuous, autonomous operation; supporting safety, reliability, and maintenance activities; and contributing to AI-enabled analytics for improved operator effectiveness.
Required Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree or diploma in Electrical Engineering, Instrumentation Engineering Technology, Electronics Engineering Technology, Mechatronics, Automation, Chemical Engineering Technology, or a closely related discipline.
- 3-5 years of relevant hands-on experience in lab automation, instrumentation, controls, electronics, maintenance, or prototype equipment development in an R&D, laboratory, pilot plant, or manufacturing environment.
- Experience with PLC programming, HMI / SCADA concepts, data acquisition, and practical system integration.
- Experience applying AI, advanced analytics, or smart monitoring to industrial operations or experimentation is highly preferred.
