Job Summary
Obtain specimens for lab processing while maintaining a professional manner with patients. Prepare samples for transport to main and reference laboratories, ensuring proper labeling and requisition processes within EMR and LIS. Perform phlebotomy for adult and pediatric patients, including POCT testing such as Quick Strep, Urine hCG, and Urine Drug Screens. Maintain supply levels, manage biohazardous waste, and adhere to OSHA and CLIA regulations. Work independently in the processing area, scrub lab schedules, and assist technologists with culture planting and analyzer maintenance.
Required Qualifications
- Successful completion of a phlebotomy or lab assistant training course
- 1 year of phlebotomy experience with all types of patients and processing
- Ability to implement universal precautions always
- Ability to calm anxious patients
- Teamwork and cooperation
- Ability to multi-task with little to no guidance
- Concern for order, quality, and accuracy
- Ability to prioritize, organize and plan work independently
- Flexible as assignments and locations change
- Excellent communication and customer service skills
- Ability to perform the N-95 Fit testing
