Job Summary
Perform laboratory functions including phlebotomy, specimen receiving and processing into the LIS; centrifugation; aliquoting, labeling and distribution of specimens to appropriate test sites. Conduct waived and moderately complex procedures; maintain and monitor laboratory equipment; and perform quality control. Requires effective communication, ability to work independently, data entry skills, and adherence to safety and regulatory requirements. Includes duties related to specimen collection, order processing, patient testing, quality control, inventory, and adapting procedures to patient populations. PRN/part-time role with hospital-based laboratory responsibilities and compliance with organizational standards.
Required Qualifications
- High School diploma or equivalent
- Current License as a Laboratory Assistant or Laboratory Assistant Trainee in the state of practice
- Laboratory Assistant Trainee license valid for first 180 days from date of hire
- Proficiency with Windows-style applications and data entry
