Lab Assistant | Portland, ME | Full-Time | 4-Day Work Week!

The Lab Assistant performs phlebotomy and specimen processing duties, supports LIS/EMR workflows, and assists in training staff while maintaining quality and safety. Responsibilities include collecting specimens (adult and pediatric), ensuring proper labeling and accessioning, processing and routing orders between EMR and LIS, performing POCT (Quick Strep, Urine hCG, Urine Dip, Quick Flu, Occult Blood, Urine Drug Screen), maintaining supplies, adhering to OSHA/CLIA regulations, and contributing to quality improvement initiatives. Strong patient service, communication, and multi-tasking skills are essential; the role requires independent work in a processing area and may involve assisting technologists with cultures and microbiology tasks as needed, with N-95 fit testing performed as directed.
