Job Summary
Conduct venipuncture and capillary punctures on adult and pediatric patients, then process specimens according to written protocols. Prepare workspaces with essential supplies, enter collection data into the laboratory computer system, and ensure proper labeling and form documentation. Receive incoming specimens, verify transport integrity, and cancel or credit tests that cannot be collected while notifying appropriate personnel. Act as a resource person to research laboratory problems, support new employees through mentorship and training, and complete special assignments as needed. Requires active Medical Assistant-Phlebotomist licensure, BLS certification, and formal phlebotomy training. Full-time Monday-Friday schedule with competitive hourly wages and comprehensive benefits.
Required Qualifications
- High School diploma or GED, or equivalent knowledge and skills obtained through a combination of education, training, and experience
- Completion of formal Phlebotomist training program
- Active Medical Assistant - Phlebotomist (MA-P) licensure through the Washington State Department of Health
- Acquire and maintain BLS certification as per FCN BLS policy
- Ability to separate plasma and operate laboratory centrifuges
- Ability to concentrate for long periods, utilize good judgement, work accurately under pressure and handle stress to meet deadlines
- Proven ability to organize and prioritize workload
- Strong detail-orientation
- Proficiency in typing
- Ability to problem solve/troubleshoot issues
- Strong customer service both in person and via telephone
- Effective communication with providers, staff and patients
- Manual dexterity and acuity necessary to prepare, screen and process specimens
- Immunization requirements in accordance with federal, state, and organizational health and safety guidelines
Desired Qualifications
- 1 or more years of experience in medical office/lab preferred
