Job Summary
Lab Assistant role in South Portland, ME responsible for obtaining specimens for lab processing, phlebotomy for adults and pediatric patients, specimen labeling and processing in LIS/EMR, preparing samples for transport, maintaining supplies, and performing QA/QC tasks. Includes training new employees, participating in quality improvement initiatives, adhering to OSHA and CLIA regulations, handling POCT procedures (e.g., Quick Strep, urine hCG, urine dip), organizing workflows, maintaining a clean and stocked workspace, and providing excellent customer service to patients, staff, and physicians. Requires phlebotomy training and experience, strong judgment, communication, multitasking, teamwork, and the ability to adapt to changing assignments and locations.
Required Qualifications
- Successful completion of a phlebotomy or lab assistant training course required
- 1 year of phlebotomy experience with all types of patients and processing preferred
