Job Summary
Lab Assistant at LabCorp stationed at Ascension St. Thomas Rutherford in Murfreesboro, TN. Responsibilities include receiving and sorting clinical lab specimens, preparing specimens for testing and analysis, data entry of specimen and patient information, ensuring lab equipment is functioning with minor instrumentation maintenance, troubleshooting specimen-related issues, replenishing test bench supplies, maintaining a clean and safe work environment, completing record logs and administrative duties, and following Standard Operating Procedures to ensure safety and quality. This role operates in a high-volume production-based environment with overtime as needed and requires comfort handling biological specimens, accuracy in specimen identification, basic computer/data-entry skills, and strong attention to detail.
Required Qualifications
- Six months or more of phlebotomy or clinical laboratory work experience
- High school diploma or equivalent
- One or more years of hospital or clinical laboratory work experience (preferred)
- One or more years of specimen processing or specimen accessioning experience (preferred)
- Comfortability with handling biological specimens
- Ability to accurately identify specimens
- Basic computer knowledge and data entry skills
- High level of attention to detail with the ability to prioritize and multitask
- Ability to work in a fast paced production environment and meet established turn-around times
- Strong communication skills; both written and verbal
- Ability to sit and/or stand for extended periods of time
- Able to pass a standardized color blindness test
- Flexibility to work overtime as needed
