Job Summary
Lab Assistant in a hospital laboratory setting responsible for drawing blood, collecting specimens, performing EKGs, processing specimens and entering data into the LIS, delivering and organizing reports, assisting in maintaining smooth laboratory workflow, and ensuring patient identification policies are followed. Responsibilities include logging lab orders into LIS, preparing specimens for shipment, and maintaining equipment and work areas in a clean, orderly manner; requires licensure or eligibility for licensure in Nevada and BLS certification.
Required Qualifications
- High School graduate or equivalent
- Licensed or eligible for licensure as a Lab Assistant with Nevada Division of Public Health (must obtain within 30 days of hire)
- American Heart Association BLS required (or obtain within 90 days of hire)
- Previous medical terminology and computer/data entry experience preferred
- Good communication and interpersonal skills
- Experience in hospital or customer service setting preferred
