Job Summary
Process blood samples and other laboratory specimens, including obtaining quality samples via venipuncture, performing ECGs, and collecting urine, drug, and breath alcohol specimens. Accurately enter requisitions and results into the Ministry of Health system while sorting and steering specimens according to SOPs. Provide empathetic customer service to anxious patients, maintaining confidentiality and ensuring all documentation meets regulatory compliance standards. Work day shifts from 7:00 am to 4:30 pm, Monday through Saturday, across multiple locations in Orangeville, Richmond Hill, Woodbridge, and Keswick.
Required Qualifications
- Secondary School
- Laboratory Assistant training program
- Medical Lab Assistance course
- specialized training in phlebotomy
- customer-focused with a genuine care for patient's health
- skill in phlebotomy
- ability to manage anxious patients through the sample obtaining process in a pleasant, calming and reassuring manner
- Prioritize and self-manage within a deadline-oriented environment
- Be extremely detail oriented
- Proficiency in English, both written and verbal, at a level that enables you to communicate instructions, clearly and understandably, to patients
