Lab Assistant

Under the supervision of the Phlebotomy Supervisor, performs accurate and skilled blood collection procedures and assists MDs and RNs with collections as indicated by staff physician orders and section standards. Adheres to hospital and laboratory policies, ensures safety to prevent exposure to bloodborne pathogens, maintains phlebotomy areas, and supports the overall function of the section. Applies knowledge of age, sex, and abilities to pre-analytic, analytic, and post-analytic components of laboratory testing. Communicates professionally with coworkers and hospital staff; uses the hospital customer service strategy; performs miscellaneous duties as assigned.
