Job Summary
Accurately and efficiently perform all necessary laboratory services, including patient registration, test ordering, specimen collection, and pre- and post-analytical specimen processing. Utilize advanced technology to precisely collect, prepare, and process diverse patient specimens such as blood, urine, and tissue for various diagnostic tests. Communicate results or relevant report data and process all lab specimens with appropriate use of hospital and laboratory information systems. Maintain meticulous attention to detail while adhering to aseptic technique and hospital policy. Requires California CPT-1 or CPT-2 certification, demonstrated knowledge of laboratory terminology, and one year of experience in an acute care hospital setting.
Required Qualifications
- Demonstrated knowledge of laboratory terminology, aseptic technique, laboratory tests and specimen handling and blood collection techniques as demonstrated by CAP required competency assessment and organizational requirements.
- California CPT-1 or CPT-2 certification or other California state certification permitting phlebotomy.
Desired Qualifications
- Lab Assistant/phlebotomist in an acute care hospital.
- One (1) year experience preferred.
