Job Summary
Laboratory Assistant (FLOAT) at Dynacare. Responsibilities include processing blood samples and other laboratory specimens, entering requisitions and results accurately, and providing exceptional patient-facing customer service to create the best possible patient experience. Duties cover data entry, obtaining quality blood samples, venipuncture, ECGs, Holter hookups, paternity, urine, drug and breath alcohol collections, and ensuring documentation and SOP-compliant handling of specimens for transport to the laboratory. Must maintain confidentiality and contribute to quality metrics and regulatory compliance. Requirements include completing Secondary School with a Laboratory Assistant training program or Medical Lab Assistant course with phlebotomy specialization; strong English communication skills; and attention to detail. Status is Permanent Part-Time (approx. 15 hours/week) with Day shifts (6:45 am – 5:00 pm, Monday–Saturday). Locations include Vaughan, Richmond Hill, Toronto, North York, and Markham, Ontario. Pay range: $21.00–$24.75 per hour.
Required Qualifications
- Completed Secondary School and a Laboratory Assistant training program or a Medical Lab Assistant course with specialized training in phlebotomy
- Customer-focused with genuine care for patient health
- Proficiency in English, written and verbal
- Ability to perform venipuncture and handle anxious patients calmly
- Detail-oriented and able to self-manage in a deadline-oriented environment
