Lab Analyst I

Job Summary
Analyze wastewater samples for Total Suspended Solids, Coliform, Ammonia, pH, and other tests using a microscope to identify bacteria. Collect treatment samples, maintain proper chain of custody, and create accurate sample fractions. Operate and maintain laboratory equipment including incubators, pH probes, and analytical balances. Log chemicals and supplies, ensure proper disposal, and perform accurate data entry and validation in LIMS. Create, update, and maintain standard operating procedures while following safety protocols and wearing necessary PPE. Provide support for the industrial pretreatment program as needed. Work day shifts Monday through Friday with some holiday coverage, standing for 80% of the day and lifting items up to 50 pounds. Willingness to study for the Wastewater Operations License is required.
Required Qualifications
- Willingness to study and test for Wastewater Operations License
- Must be able to stand for approximately 80% of an 8 hour work day
- Must be able to regularly lift items between 1 and 15 pounds
- Must be able to occasionally lift items between 15 and 50 pounds
- Some holiday work required
- Work schedule will be day shift Monday through Friday
Desired Qualifications
- Prefer candidates with an associate's or bachelor's degree in a science field
- Prefer candidates that have experience analyzing environmental samples
