Job Summary
Perform routine analytical testing to ensure raw materials, in-process materials, and finished goods meet specifications. Operate and maintain laboratory instrumentation including pH meters, nitrogen surface area analyzers, ICP, TGA, and particle size analyzers. Prepare calibration standards, manage laboratory data within the LIMS, and monitor quality using Statistical Process Control charts. Maintain accurate documentation, perform housekeeping, and support product development projects. Adhere to all safety protocols and regulatory requirements while working with hazardous materials. This role requires a unique 3-week rotating schedule with 4 ten-hour shifts per week.
Required Qualifications
- Associate degree or two-year technical degree in Chemistry, Laboratory Technology, or a related scientific field preferred and
- Or equivalent combination of education, training, and experience, including at least 5 years of relevant laboratory experience
- Demonstrated knowledge of laboratory testing procedures, instrumentation, quality systems, and safe laboratory practices
- Ability to follow safety protocols and standards working in a laboratory environment with highly hazardous materials
- Must be able to stand, walk, sit, climb, balance, stoop, kneel, crouch, crawl, and climb stairs and ladders over 100 ft.
- Must be willing to wear PPE (Personal Protective equipment) including but not limited to hard hat, protective eyewear, steel-toed boots, hearing protection, Level A suit, full face respirator
- This job has a unique 3-week rotating schedule.
- Weeks run from Monday to Sunday
- during each week, everyone works 4 ten-hour shifts
- Week 1 and Week 2 are the same, working Monday, Tuesday, Thursday, and Friday
- Week 3, they work Tuesday, Wednesday, Saturday, and Sunday
- Some of these shifts will be working alone once training is complete
- Start time is flexible between 6 AM and 8 AM each day
- The Lab Analyst is on site in Chattanooga, TN
Desired Qualifications
- Associate degree or two-year technical degree in Chemistry, Laboratory Technology, or a related scientific field preferred and
- Minimum of 1–2 years of experience in an industrial laboratory environment
- Microsoft Office tool experience
