Job Summary
Drafting, proofreading, and finalizing legal documents, pleadings, and discovery materials; managing Maryland and federal court filings and calendaring; coordinating discovery, subpoenas, service of process, trial preparation, and exhibit binders; maintaining organized case files and protecting confidentiality; communicating with clients, attorneys, staff, court personnel, and vendors regarding case status; supporting attorney calendars, billing, time entry, and other administrative tasks in a family law practice.
Required Qualifications
- Minimum five years of experience in a legal administrative assistant and/or paralegal role; family law experience preferred
- Strong knowledge of legal terminology, court procedures, and Maryland state court filing requirements
- Demonstrated ability to manage multiple deadlines, prioritize competing responsibilities, and work independently in a high-volume practice
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite, Adobe Acrobat, document management systems, and legal billing software
- Excellent written, verbal, organizational, and interpersonal communication skills
- High level of professionalism, sound judgment, and discretion in handling confidential matters
