Job Summary
Write press releases, media advisories, game notes, and media guides while developing talking points for executives, coaches, and players. Execute media relations efforts at practices, games, and community events, managing game credentials and supporting game-day media operations. Pitch basketball, business, and community stories to local and national media, staffing players, coaches, and executives for appearances. Build relationships with media, broadcasters, and WNBA Communications to support organizational announcements and issues management. Requires flexible schedule including evenings, weekends, and holidays, with travel for road games and league events.
Required Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree in Communications, Journalism, Public Relations or related field, or equivalent experience
- Minimum of five years of communications or media relations experience in sports, entertainment or a comparable industry
- Excellent writing, editing and presentation skills
- Strong understanding of basketball, game operations and media relations
- Ability to manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced environment
- Proficiency with Microsoft Office and media monitoring platforms
- Full-time position based in Los Angeles, California
- Travel required for select road games and team-related events
- Flexible schedule, including evenings, weekends and holidays
